Violence escalated in two cites outside the capital Cairo on Thursday
as anti-government protests continued to grip the country and challenge
President Hosni Mubarak's regime, while Egypt's top democracy advocate
returned to the country declaring he was ready to lead the grass-roots
protest movement to a regime change. In the northern Sinai area of
Sheik Zuweid, several hundred Bedouins and police exchanged live
gunfire, killing a 17-year-old man. The name of the teenager was
confirmed as Mohamed Attef.
